Inspired by a Supermoon, when the moon is closest to the Earth and appears larger in the sky. The term ‘Supermoon’ was coined in 1979 and the namesake for this painting.
Layers of gold leaf create the moon with messages and symbols scratched into the surface. The lightly textured black is a stark contrast against the gold portraying the dark expanse of space.
