Who we are

Art by Storey is the business of the artist Storey, selling original paintings through artbystorey.com. We are responsible for the personal information you share with us on this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email hi@artbystorey.com.

What we collect

• When you buy a painting: your name, email address, billing and delivery address, phone number if you give one, and the details of your order.
• When you send an enquiry: your name, email address, the subject and your message.
• When you join the newsletter: your email address, and any other details you choose to add on the sign-up form.
• When you browse the site: basic technical information such as the pages you visit, your browser type and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

We never see or store your full card details. Payments are handled securely by our payment providers.

How we use it

• To process, ship and support your order, including sending order and delivery updates. We rely on our contract with you to do this.
• To keep records of sales for tax and accounting purposes, as the law requires.
• To reply to your enquiries and discuss commissions. We do this because it is in our legitimate interest to respond to you.
• To send you the newsletter, only if you have signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
• To keep the website and payments secure, prevent fraud and understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

We never sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share only what is needed with trusted services that help us run the business:

• WordPress.com (Automattic), which hosts this website and provides basic site statistics.
• WooPayments (powered by Stripe), which processes card payments and checks for fraud.
• Klarna, Clearpay, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Amazon Pay, only if you choose to pay with them.
• Mailchimp (Intuit), which sends our newsletter.
• The courier delivering your painting, who receives your name, delivery address and phone number.
• Our accountant or professional advisers, where needed.

Some of these services are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where your information is transferred abroad, it is protected by safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

• Order records: six years, to meet UK tax and accounting rules.
• Enquiries: up to two years after our last contact, unless they lead to an order or commission.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

Cookies

This site uses essential cookies to make the cart, checkout and payments work, and to keep them secure. These are always on. With your permission, it also uses cookies to collect basic statistics about how the site is used. You can accept or decline these when you first visit, and change your choice at any time in cookie settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you or another organisation. You can also object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time. To make a request, email hi@artbystorey.com. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
